Open Water

    Learning to scuba dive gives you the opportunity to experience the thrill and excitement of exploring the underwater world. Here in Kona, scuba divers slip into crystal clear waters, soar above pristine coral reefs, swim through lava rock arches, or visit green sea turtles resting on the reef. On the world famous Kona Manta Ray Night Dive, divers are thrilled by observing large majestic manta rays somersaulting, gliding, and pivoting only a few feet away.     The PADI eLearning program allows you to start the PADI Open Water Diver course immediately with a user friendly on-line course that covers the knowledge development portion. Participating in this on-line component allows more flexibility when trying to fit scuba certification into a busy schedule and provides another option for those who prefer web based learning. In addition to the eLearning program, students also participate in five skill development sessions and four open water dives at Jack's Diving Locker in Kona, Hawaii.     Upon successful completion of this course, students become PADI Open Water Divers and can sign-up for our 2-Tank Day Trip or 2-tank Manta Sunset/Night Trip.  Certified divers are allowed rent or purchase scuba equipment as well as plan and conduct open water dives independently within the limits of their training.  Certified divers may also continue training with the PADI Advanced Open Water course and PADI Specialty courses such as Digital Underwater Photography, Underwater Naturalist, and many more.

COST:
– $395 plus tax
– $800 private instructor available
– $138 paid directly to PADI

PREREQUISITES:
– Ages 12 & up
– Ages 10 -11 with Instructor approval

WE PROVIDE:
– Instruction
– Tanks, Weights, BCD, Regulator, Wetsuit
– Shore and Boat Dives

STUDENTS PROVIDE:
– eLearning Crew Pak with Computer book (recommended) or PADI    Logbook and eRDPml or RDP dive tables
– Dive Computer (rental available $8.50 per day)
   or Underwater Dive Watch (available for purchase)
– Mask, snorkel, fins (rental available $8.50 per day)

DURATION:
– 3 full days. Additional day(s) needed to complete
   performance requirements results in addtional fees.

DISCOUNTS:
– 10% off most regular priced merchandise after class
– $5 off of dives

– If you have a YES to a medical question, you will need to
   get a doctor’s approval before starting the course. Please
   call the shop for assistance.

– 72 hour cancellation policy. Cancellation made 72 hours or less
   prior to course start date results in a full charge.

DAY 1 (9 am - 4 pm)
– Before class: Print out PADI eLearning Record Form
   (printer available at shop for travelers)
– Front counter: Check-in and purchase materials
– Classroom: Complete Quick Review
– Pool: Watermanship assessment
– Pool: Confined Water Skill Dives 1- 5

DAY 2 (8 am - 4 pm)
– Front counter: Check-in
– Classroom: Briefing for Open Water Dives
– Boat or Shore: Open Water Training Dives 1 and 2
– Classroom: Log dives

DAY 3 (8 am - 4 pm)
– Front counter: Check-in
– Classroom: Briefing for Open Water Dives
– Boat: Open Water Training Dives 3 and 4
– Classroom: Log dives
– Certifications issued with successful completion
