The PADI Open Water Scuba Diver course is an entry-level certification course that includes academic sessions, shallow water skill dives, and four open water dives from the shore and boat. Upon successful completion of this course, students become PADI Open Water Divers and are allowed to rent or purchase scuba equipment as well as plan and conduct open water dives independently within the limits of their training. One of the best experiences for certified divers is to sign up for dive boat charters where they will explore the underwater world with a professional guide. Certified Open Water Divers are encouraged to continue their training with the PADI Advanced Open Water course or PADI specialty courses such as Digital Underwater Photography, Enriched Air Nitrox, and more.
